Your support helps us in our mission to provide reading and spelling intervention to children with a dyslexia diagnosis, to educate the community about dyslexia, and to provide dyslexia resources to those in need.
Dyslexic Edge, Inc. is a nonprofit business. Our mission is to serve children in Melbourne and Brevard County who have a dyslexia diagnosis. We offer a full-day tutoring program (8am-3pm, early release on Fridays). We use research-based, Orton-Gillingham- influenced reading and spelling intervention. We also teach all K-6 subject areas using dyslexic brain strategies. Dyslexic Edge has provided a much-needed solution to many children who struggled in a traditional classroom setting.
We know choosing a learning environment for your child is a big decision. If you are interested in next steps, contact us to ask about a visit. If your child is a good fit for Dyslexic Edge, we can offer two free “shadow” days to help your child feel comfortable and learn about our methods, strategies, and curriculum.
The dyslexic brain is brilliant, and it needs to learn in a specific way. That’s where our passion lies. With the right learning environment, strategies, and tools for building confidence, students who once felt frustration and overwhelm are now thriving and making incredible progress.
We devote time every day to recognizing, celebrating, and developing the areas of giftedness each student possesses as a direct result of being dyslexic. Our learners have designed theme park rides, planned cities using geometry, and much more using their many gifts.
Our learning environment is built on the needs and strengths of the dyslexic brain. We are guided by the work of Brock and Fernette Eide. If dyslexia touches your life, or you just want to know more, we encourage you to read The Dyslexic Advantage and visit the website at https://www.dyslexicadvantage.org.
Using this framework, we help kids discover which M.I.N.D strengths they possess. Will their exceptional material reasoning lead them to become a brilliant engineer or surgeon? Will their strong narrative gift help them become a playwright, novelist, or screenwriter? When kids learn about their talents, they gain the confidence and motivation they need to pursue dreams and goals. It is our honor to help them make those discoveries.
“My daughter used to cry before school and think she was not like the other kids or stupid. Now I see her solving problems for things not school-related, saying “I can do this, I’m a dyslexic!”
“I think that [my daughter] finally understands she is not stupid or lazy; she just thinks differently.”
“My son couldn’t read anything before he attended Dyslexic Edge. Now he can read and write.”
“[My child] went from having panic attacks in the morning before school and not understanding assignments to succeeding in geometry! And no more panic attacks!”
"[My son] likes to see his friends but he also likes to learn and the way the curriculum works for him.”
