Our Mission
Dyslexic Edge is a nonprofit organization serving dyslexic learners and their families in Brevard County. We aim to provide the earliest-possible reading, writing and spelling interventions to children with a dyslexia diagnosis. We connect with clients by partnering with local child psychologists, speech-language pathologists, healthcare providers, and business leaders (including the Melbourne Chamber of Commerce).
How We Make An Impact
Experts agree that around 20% of the population is dyslexic. Dyslexia occurs in all languages and cultures, and is not related to intelligence levels, but can have a massive impact on the ability to read, write, and spell. A large gap exists between the number of people with dyslexia and those who have been identified and given support.
Research shows that the sooner a child is identified and their needs are addressed, the more their reading and writing abilities—not to mention confidence--
will be improved. Dyslexic Edge has the training, experience, knowledge, and research-based interventions to help. We provide an optimum learning environment for K-6 dyslexic learners. When we reach students at this age, we give them the best possible start, which propels them forward to excel in higher education.
