Dyslexic Edge Inc. is a nonprofit business with the main purpose of serving students with Dyslexia. Our dyslexia tutors provide full-time K-6 tutoring in Melbourne, FL. Our 8:30am-3:00pm program provides research-based, Orton-Gillingham (O.G.) influenced reading and spelling intervention. We also provide dyslexic brain strategies and instruction in all K-6 subject areas. Best of all, we devote time daily to recognizing, celebrating, and developing the areas of giftedness each student possesses as a direct result of being Dyslexic.

Started out of necessity, passion and purpose.
I have been an educator in public as well as private schools since 2003. I obtained my Master's degree in exceptional education at the University of Central Florida in 2010. I have been qualified to screen for dyslexia since being trained directly by Susan Barton (founder of Bright Solutions and the Barton Reading and Spelling program) in 2014. I also became reading endorsed in 2020 through Brevard Public Schools. In October of 2023 I completed 30+3 hours of an O.G.-based training to enhance my learning and add effective learning strategies.
Additionally, I have more than 10 years of experience using an effective, research-based spelling and reading intervention program which goes through 9th grade reading and spelling level.
My passion for education, as well as my own personal family background, has driven me to my purpose: devoting my training, experience, and efforts to helping students with dyslexia reach his/her full potential.
I have been an educator for more than 10 years. In 2013, I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching (with ESOL endorsement) from Rollins College in Orlando. My first teaching job was in Seminole County as a 4th/5th-grade math and science teacher. I taught in Florida several years before moving to Arizona in 2016. I became a reading teacher at a Title 1 school serving the Pasqua Yaqui Indian Reservation and South Tucson families. I ultimately became the school’s Reading Interventionist; I assessed and taught struggling readers in grades K-8, and helped their teachers develop effective classroom supports and strategies.
I am thrilled to be back in Florida with Dyslexic Edge! In 2023 I completed a 30+ 3- hour Orton-Gillingham training, and continue to educate myself on the Science of Reading and best practices for teaching dyslexic learners.
I strive to be a gentle leader in the classroom. I approach students with compassion and patience, and find creative methods to help them learn in a way that works for them. Every brain is different! At Dyslexic Edge I have the tools and time to address the individual needs of every student. It is truly a joy to be a part of this organization, to observe incredible growth in our students, and to help them see their dyslexia as a gift.
