April kept us busy! This month, students completed a project about their chosen "Dyselxic Ambassador." They selected a dyslexic person who inspires them and has impacted the world in a big way. Next, they applied their research, writing, and creative skills to write about and present the information to their peers. In social studies, students continued learning about Florida's history during the late 1800s and the turn of the century. In language arts, they learned to analyze texts for the main idea and author's purpose. They also complete their novel study on Hank Zipzer: Niagra Falls, Or Does It? Other fun activities included watching caterpillars change into butterflies, trying out fashion design, and more.

Learning is in bloom! March was jam-packed with discovery. This month in science, our learners explored changes in matter through the delicious science of ice cream! In language arts/ social studies, students researched, wrote about, and created dioramas depicting important inventions from the 1800s. In observation of Women's History Month, we also learned about Julia Tuttle, Hariette V. Moore, and state legislator Debbie Mayfield.

This month, we finally embarked on our much-anticipated field trip to St. Augustine! This unforgettable experience grew the students' knowledge and understanding of Florida's history, but also gave them plenty of cherished memories. When we weren't exploring ancient Florida, we were in the classroom acting out how molecules behave in various states of matter, and how events unfolded during Florida's participation in the Civil War.

We had a great start to 2026! Creativity was at the forefront of our learning this month. Our unit about the early exploration and colonization of Florida culminated in a play about Fort Mose. Our scholars used their Dyslexic Gifts to create "collaborative creatures" and scribble art. We also started our latest novel study on the book Hank Zipzer: Niagra Falls or Does It? written by dyslexic author (and actor) Henry Winkler.

December might just be our favorite month! We love to express our creativity and joy with a unique holiday theme each day leading up to Winter Break. Our students continued to work hard on academics, too! Students learned author's point-of-view, comparing fractions, the history of how Florida was colonized, and much more!

We were busy in November! In language arts we discussed literature using a Socratic Circle and gave presentations about ourselves and our character traits. In math, students explored fractions with peer teaching. In social studies, we learned about Florida's native populations and students started a native pottery project using a pottery wheel. Many of our students received certificates for progressing in MobyMax math and in their reading intervention program. During their Dyslexic Advantage time, students learned about famous dyslexic artists and created paintings inspired by Picasso and Warhol.

In October, students applied their knowledge of area and perimeter to various fun games, plus a collaborative project in which they designed a zoo. Language Arts focused on analyzing theme and character development in the novel Fish In a Tree. We also wrapped up our unit on Florida geography by taking a field trip to Turkey Creek Sanctuary. This allowed students to explore the Coastal Lowlands region of our state live and in-person!

This month was filled with collaborative, hands-on learning. Students worked together to explore area and perimeter, conducted two science investigations about how sugar affects tooth health, and learned about percussion and rhythm while also learning to read music! They also enjoyed continuing their novel study about the book Fish In A Tree by Linda Mullaly Hunt, which features a dyslexic main character. For Hispanic Heritage Month, one of our students gave a presentation about his Puerto Rican heritage and culture, truly showing how our students learn to thrive and gain confidence as they learn. We are so proud of our kids!

Back-to-School Excitement! We were thrilled to welcome several new students to our group, along with many familiar faces for another year of learning and thriving.
